The Glenferrie Early Childhood Centre, often known as “GECC”, is a community-based child care centre operating in Council-owned premises in Hawthorn in the City of Boroondara.

Glenferrie Early Childhood Centre Incorporated is an Incorporated Association in the State of Victoria, with membership being open to all parents with children at the Centre. The Centre is registered to provide long day care for 54 equivalent full-time children aged between 6 weeks and 5 years old, on a full or part time basis (minimum of 2 days per week), prior to their commencement at primary school.

There are four rooms grouped according to age: 9 places for babies up to 18 months old, 10 places for children of ages 18 months to 2½ years old, 10 places for children of ages 2½ to 3½ years old, and 25 places for children of 3 to 5 years old. A kindergarten program operates for children aged over 3 years for several hours each day.

GECC is open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.55pm. Late fees are charged if parents arrive after the scheduled closing time. GECC provides long day childcare and kindergarten for 50 weeks of the year, and is closed over the Christmas and New Year period.
